Technické benzíny jsou směsi ropných uhlovodíků, které vřou přibližně v rozmezí teplot podle označení. Získávají se rektifikací a hydrogenací primárních benzinových destilátů. Jsou to průzračné bezbarvé kapaliny charakteristického benzinového zápachu, bez viditelné vody a mechanických nečistot. Technické benzíny jsou velmi hořlavé kapaliny. Z hlediska hygieny práce jsou technické benzíny látky škodící zdraví. V závislosti na koncentraci par působí narkoticky a dráždí sliznice. Při vdechování vyvolávají bolesti hlavy. Technické benzíny silně odmašťují pokožku. Používají se pro nátěry a barvy jako rozpouštědlo, odmašťovač, laboratorní činidlo, v čistírně. K uvedeným nátěrovým látkám a přípravkům se přidává postupně v množství určeném výrobcem nátěrové látky, laku, lepidla za stálého míchání až se dosáhne předepsané konzistence.
